Information about Herbergscentret

Herbergscentret contains two institutions – Herberget and The Health Clinic.

Herberget offers transitional accommodation to homeless adults with alcohol, drugs, mental health and/or behavioural issues.

Herberget consists of 2 buildings with 48 single-bed rooms (56 during the winter period), spread out over 5 floors. Each floor has its own common room, kitchen, toilets and bathrooms. Each room is furnished with a bed, bedside table, wardrobe, chest of drawers, table and chair. It is not possible to bring your own furniture.

Herberget is open and staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

When you first present yourself at Herberget, you will be interviewed by a member of our staff to clarify whether you meet the target group criteria. If so, you will be registered in our IT-system. You can apply every day on each of the homeless shelters in the Copenhagen area. If there are no rooms vacant we seek to help you find alternative accommodations.

As a resident at Herberget, you are expected to pay a monthly rent, set annually by Københavns Kommune. The rent includes laundering of household linen provided by Herberget. For your personal laundry our free laundry facilities are at your disposal. If you have no income, we can help you claim welfare benefits.

Within the first week of your stay at Herberget, you are linked with a key worker, who in collaboration with you, work to improve your current situation on the basis of your personal circumstances. At Herberget, we can also assist you in contacting the public authorities or treatment centres for addiction, mental illness or physical diseases. In addition to this, we focus on supporting you in moving on to a long-term or permanent form of accommodation.

Herberget is a so-called “section 110-institution” under the Act on Social Services. For more detailed information on section 110, please visit the following websites: (sandudvalg.dk) or (sm.dk/ministryofsocialwelfare)

The Health Clinic is run on a walk-in basis, which means that you are welcome without an appointment or a referral. In the Health Clinic, our experienced nurses can offer you guidance on health issues, tend to your wounds or help you contact your GP, the emergency room, a hospital or a specialist etc.

The Health Clinic is located at Sundholmsvej 20 and is open on weekdays between 8:00 and 10:00 and between 11:00 and 13:00.
